Reef Check Hawai`i Volunteer Training
Prior to volunteering, you will need to attend a training session to learn more about coral reefs and how we monitor their health. Trainings usually take two evenings, each about two hours long. The first evening covers basic coral reef ecology and threats to the reef. During the second class you will learn Reef Check's survey methodology and what organisms, substrates and impacts we look for. In most cases, we will have an in-water training survey on the following weekend. Click here if you would like to get a head start on learning what we're looking for out on the reef.
